On the evening of June 2 a shooting occurred on southbound I-5 near 43rd Avenue.
The person who called in the shooting was the girlfriend of the victim, who was shot and then run over with the vehicle. A second vehicle also ran him over, and when officers arrived the victim was on the shoulder on I-5.
The victim had endured “severe trauma, which included visible fatal injuries to his head.” according to CHP.
The girlfriend was riding as a passenger in a Chevy Aveo that her 29-year-old boyfriend was driving.
A 20-year-old male, the suspect, rode in the back seat. As the story goes, the suspect “shot the victim as they were traveling in the #4 lane of southbound on I-5.”
With the vehicle stopped in the #4 lane, the victim and his girlfriend got out of the car.
The suspect got behind the wheel and drove off, striking the victim in doing so.
The second vehicle, a Honda Accord, struck the victim accidentally. The driver of that vehicle drove off of the freeway and called 911.
About two hours later CHP units out of Solano spotted the abandoned vehicle on Interstate 80 near Alamo Drive, blood spattered inside.
After setting up a perimeter, “the (unnamed) suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.”
