The Santa Rosa Police Department investigated a stabbing in which the arrest of the suspect was made immediately after the incident –
“On Saturday, June 14th, 2020 at 12:55 a.m., Santa Rosa Police Department officers responded to the 2300 Block of McBride Lane for a stabbing victim.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was eventually transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim suffered one large stab wound to the upper body, which initially appeared to be life-threatening. The victim was stabilized at the hospital but remains in critical condition.
The investigation revealed that the assault occurred between roommates. The suspect, identified as Jose Orozco-Rodriguez, a 41-year-old Santa Rosa resident, stabbed his roommate with a knife as the victim slept.
As officers responded to the scene, they located the victim in the parking lot who was asking other area residents for help. Medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. Officers searching the area located Orozco-Rodriguez in the parking lot of the apartment complex where the assault occurred and detained him without incident.
Violent Crimes Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. Orozco-Rodriguez was booked into the Main Adult Detention Facility on a charge of attempted murder, 664/187(a) PC.
