The Santa Rosa CHP intervened in a road rage incident that resulted in damage and numerous charges –
Yesterday evening at approximately 3:52pm, Santa Rosa CHP officers responded for reports of a green and black Ford truck that was driving recklessly at 100 mph and cutting off vehicles along n/b US-101 in Healdsburg.
Responding officers received additional information that the Ford truck was now involved in a road rage incident with a Dodge truck. The Ford was reportedly tailgating and attempting to crash into the Dodge. A traffic collision was subsequently reported in the same area.
Officers arrived on scene and detained a male that was running away from the crash scene. The male was sweating profusely, shouting, and acting erratic.
Witness information and evidence at the scene indicated that the Ford, driven by Jesus Hernandez Olivera, chased the Dodge at a high rate of speed. In an attempt to separate from the Ford, the victim pulled into the center median near Canyon Road to allow the Ford to pass.
Olivera drove by but then turned around and started driving head-on towards the Dodge. The victim was still stopped in the center median when Olivera crashed his Ford into the front of the Dodge.
Olivera ran from the scene and was attempting to flag down passing motorists as CHP arrived on scene. Olivera was placed under arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon (vehicle), DUI (drugs), and Hit & Run. No injuries were reported by any involved.
