U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped a vehicle atthe border that was loaded with Ziploc bags of meth –
“OCOTILLO, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents working at the County Road S-2 immigration checkpoint arrested a man suspected of smuggling narcotics in his vehicle late Wednesday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 11 p.m., when a 45-year-old man driving a 2002 Volkswagen hatchback approached the checkpoint. Agents noticed the driver appeared nervous, and asked the driver for consent to search his vehicle, to which he agreed.
Upon searching the trunk of the vehicle, Border Patrol agents discovered 21 Ziploc packages concealed inside the spare tire covering where a spare tire should have been. Agents determined that the packages contained a white substance that was consistent with the characteristics of methamphetamine.
The total weight of the narcotics discovered was approximately 21.23 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated value of $25,476.
The man, an illegal alien from Mexico, the narcotics and vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
