Suspect Jailed for Burglary, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault of a Woman

BERKELEY — A man jailed for burglary, domestic violence and sexual assault is accused of attacking a woman in her bedroom. The suspect is 39-year-old Danny A. Rodriguez of Berkeley.
Problems with the law are piling up for Rodriguez, who has been arrested four times this year. Now Rodriguez faces five felony charges and he is presently ineligible for release on bond.
In February and March, Rodriquez was arrested three times by BART police for fare evasion and public intoxication. On June 26, he was arrested for more serious crimes by Berkeley police on the 3000 block of College Avenue.
Rodriquez allegedly entered a residence shortly before 4:30 a.m., while a woman was asleep in her bed. The victim awoke startled with the suspect standing over her.
According to authorities, Rodriquez subsequently committed a sexual assault during a burglary. The victim had a prior relationship with the suspect.
Rodriguez was questioned and transported to Santa Rita Jail, where he was booked at 5:12 a.m. He is scheduled to appear for a plea hearing on July 7 at the East County Hall of Justice.
