On July 9th , the West America Bank on South Elm Avenue in Easton was robbed. A man armed
with a handgun demanded money as he pointed the weapon at employees, making verbal threats.
The suspect fled with stolen cash. Valley Crime Stoppers tips led Fresno County Sheriff’s Office
Property Crimes detectives to identify the suspect as 36-year old Ignacio Lopez.
On July 21st, Lopez was arrested in Fresno during a traffic stop where he was riding passenger.
The car was searched and found was a loaded, stolen handgun matching the description of the
revolver used during the commission of the bank robbery.
The bank has been robbed twice before on January 23, 2019 and September 22, 2015. While
reviewing past robbery reports, detectives realized Lopez matched the description of the suspect
who robbed the bank these two times prior.
Lopez was booked at the Fresno County Jail for numerous felony charges including armed
robbery and felon in possession of a firearm. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for
spousal abuse. As of the time of this writing, he remains in custody at the Fresno County Jail
with bail set at $325,000.
