In what appears to be a trend of out-of-area drug dealers plying their wares throughout their jurisdiction, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Street Team is having a busy summer in their efforts to suppress the flow of controlled substances into the county and to arrest
those responsible for their sales.
According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Eduardo Malagon, evidence of the success of their efforts came once again with the July 23rd arrest of Los Angeles County resident Duke Phan, which came as a result of “information indicating Phan was involved in the sales of ecstasy pills and psychedelic drugs to residents in the City of Moorpark.”
With that information in hand, surveillance of Phan began. He was observed traveling from his Los Angeles County residence into Moorpark, whereupon he was the subject of “a traffic enforcement stop” and was served with a search warrant.
The ensuing search of his vehicle revealed him to be in possession of “over one pound of Molly
and 500 ecstasy pills.” He was then taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail.
During his ride to jail, detectives then searched Phan’s residence and ultimately seized “987
grams of MDMA, 906 ecstasy pills, 476 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, over 500 doses of
LSD, and a loaded AR-15 rifle.”
Phan was booked into Ventura County Jail and charged with multiple narcotics and firearms
violations.
