A man brandishing and wielding a machete at a motel on the 900 block of West Morton Avenue prompted a call to Porterville Police the evening of July 29th .
When officers arrived, they were able to detain and identify the machete-wielding suspect as 39-year old Visalia resident Roy Thomas.
Thomas had reportedly become upset with the victim and reacted by brandishing a
machete as he threatened the victim’s life.
Thomas was also suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was in possession of methamphetamine’s and drug paraphernalia.
Thomas was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, possession of a
controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of a
controlled substance. He was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s South County Detention
Facility with bail set at $60,000.
