On May 23 an attempted homicide occurred in Hollister, near N. Chappell Road and Pacific Way.
Within 10 minutes, two shootings had in fact occurred. A red Honda carrying several men wearing red bandannas opened fired on a parked car, hitting the car but not the men standing nearby.
Interestingly, the same men who face the gunfire got it again, this time from the driver f a passing black Chevy Tahoe.
One of the two men repairing the flat tire on their previously-shot vehicle was hit this time.
No suspects were arrested that night, but the ensuing investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant on July 31.
The Hollister Police Department details that, “On the morning of July 31, Hollister Police patrol and investigations staff, along with agents from the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team, San Benito County Probation, San Benito County Sheriff’s Office and Monterey County Sheriff’s SWAT Team members conducted a search warrant operation on Loma Vista Drive. Subsequently Matthew Mello was arrested and booked for attempted murder, Convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and convicted felon in possession of ammunition.”
