Three people were arrested after a pursuit involving a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on the evening of August 8.
Then, an officer tried to stop a vehicle on a traffic enforcement stop, but the vehicle took off. This started near the 1000 block of Walnut Street.
A passenger on the fleeing vehicle tried to jump out and was run over by the vehicle, resulting in his death.
The driver stopped near the 300 block of Paskenta Road and ran into a detached garage which was later discovered to be where he had been living.
40-year-old Brian Son had several stolen firearms in the garage. 38-year-old Jeremy Swain and 42-year-old Pedro Avila were also in the garage. They were arrested for obstructing a peace officer.
Son’s charges include hit and run resulting in death, evading police causing bodily injury/death, felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and revocation of Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
The Red Bluff Police Department concludes, “Son was scheduled to be released from prison on December 24th, 2020. However, he was released early on July 14th, 2020 due to COVID-19. Son failed to report to probation since his release.
The deceased victim has been identified as 38-year-old David Alan Lee, Jr. of Red Bluff.”
