Man Arrested for Attempting to Murder His Pregnant Girlfriend
A Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested after pulling a gun on his pregnant girlfriend and repeatedly punching her in the face and stomach during an argument.
The incident began after 9 AM on Monday, August 24, 2020, when the suspect and his girlfriend got into an argument over financial issues at a residence in the 11700 Block of Malaga Drive. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Rashad Toney, “demanded the victim pay him money owed and presented a handgun,” stated the release.
His girlfriend left and drove to a gas station, where she entered to use the ATM. While there, “Toney entered the store and struck the victim on her arm and stomach,” according to the release. “The victim walked back outside to her vehicle where Toney grabbed her by the collar, drug her, threw her against the car and began punching her in the face and stomach.”
Witnesses told Toney to stop the assault, at which point he got in his car and left the scene. The woman contacted emergency services and was taken to a local hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.
Rancho Cucamonga deputies were dispatched to the residence, where they found Toney and arrested him. A 9mm handgun along with ammunition were also located.
Toney was booked at West Valley Detention Center on charges of attempted murder, corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, and carrying a loaded handgun/not the owner. His bail has been set at $1,000,000.
