On the afternoon of August 29, a carjacking occurred at the Carlsen Porsche Dealership.
Officers came to 3636 Haven Avenue in response. The suspect was spotted lurking around the service area after it had been closed.
The suspect then went to the sales floor upon the direction of a sales associate, who retrieved the keys to one of the vehicles, sat in it with the suspect and started it up.
The two of them exited the vehicle, at which time the suspect demanded the keys, ensuring the employee saw the outline of a gun under his clothes.
The suspect, a younger black male, then drove away in the stolen Porsche. Shortly, a RCPD officer spotted and began following the stolen car.
CHP took over the chase, as the suspect now “refused to stop and continued to evade the pursuing CHP officers as he traveled through the cities of Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, Union City, and Fremont.”
After the suspect intentionally rammed a CHP motor officer, CHP “initiated a vehicle boxing maneuver in Fremont and eventually detained the driver, later identified as Jeremy Morton, 25 years old, out of Hayward, who is on probation for felony assault out of Alameda County.”
Morton was booked into San Mateo County Jail on charges of carjacking. The additional charges of evasion, assault with a deadly weapon, and probation violation will follow later
