A man was recently arrested after he allegedly killed a 20-year-old woman while driving drunk in Irvine.
The woman, Isadora Stabel of Irvine, was a passenger in the backseat of a black Hyundai Elantra that was struck in the intersection of Main and Culver around 8:45 pm on Saturday, 22, 2020. She was rushed to the Orange County Global Medical Center for the treatment of her severe injuries. Sadly, she did not survive.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Antonio Calixto Navarrete of San Clemente, was driving a white Ford F-150 when he ran a red light at the intersection, resulting in the crash. Navarrete fled the scene after the collision occurred, and two Good Samaritans called 911 to report the incident. They then followed Navarrete until he was apprehended by Irvine police officers a short distance away from the scene of the crash. Navarrete was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run, felony DUI, and murder, and he was booked into Orange County Jail.
If convicted, Navarrete faces a maximum sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
