Los Banos PD partners with Sheriff’s Dept., Merced PD in enforcement operations

“In response to the uptick of crime in the City of Los Banos, the Los Banos Police Department partnered with the Sheriff’s Tactics and Reconnaissance team (STAR) and the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) in a proactive approach to policing the community over the past few weeks.
The goal is to deter and remove gang activity and the higher level of serious and violent crimes that accompanies them. The safety of the community is our number one priority.
Members of the STAR team arrested David Lee Johnson and Stephen Gomes:
David Lee Johnson was arrested on September 3, 2020, on a Ramey Warrant for 245 PC. Johnson was in possession of several containers of methamphetamine during the time of his arrest.
Stephen Gomes was arrested on September 3, 2020, for weapon and vehicle code violations. A firearm was confiscated during the arrest and booked into evidence.
GVSU members arrested Christopher Valdez on September 4, 2020. Valdez is on a grant of parole and in possession of approximately 30 rounds of ammunition.
In a combined effort, STAR and GVSU members arrested Sureño gang member, Marcos Valencia, and seized an assault weapon and a handgun on August 29, 2020.
