On Thursday, September 10, 2020, Jason Harrison arranged to meet an old high school acquaintance to buy a Versace belt from him. That evening, Jason met Christopher Chavez at the meeting spot near Oak and Crocus Streets in Armona. Christopher was in a white, four-door Chevrolet Malibu with four other males.
Jason gave Christopher, who was seated in the back seat of the car, the money for the Versace belt. Christopher placed the money on the seat but instead of giving Jason the belt, he pulled out a gun. Jason reached inside the car to grab his money but Christopher told the driver to take off.
Jason was partially inside the vehicle when they drove off. He was drug approximately one block, suffering road rash injuries on various parts of his body before falling from the moving vehicle. He was treated at a local hospital.
All five suspects were identified, four adults and one male. The adults confessed to planning the robbery and were arrested and booked into Kings County Jail for felony charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Christopher Chavez (18) and Luke Whisenant’s (20) bail was set at $145,000; Ramon Garcia (18), the driver, and Diego Huerta’s (18) bail was set at $95,000.
