The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office reported a shooting homicide that occurred on September 12 –
“Today, at 10:38 Joseph Sampognaro Jr. was involved in an altercation with another at a property on Laureles grade.
The two entered a barn and Joseph Jr. shot and killed the other person.
Witnesses reported that Samponaro Jr. fled the scene in a black corvette.
Deputies responding to the call spotted the corvette and tried to stop him.
He fled from deputies who pursued him and blocked his escape after he crashed. He was taken into custody.
