September 23, 2020 – Santa Barbara County, Ca.
Early on the morning of September 22nd , Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested 35- year-old Kimberly Machleit and 37-year-old Donald Anderson, both residents of Santa Maria on suspicion of murder.
Just hours before, a Sheriff’s Dive Team had been swimming in the lake at a public golf course in the City of Nipomo, where they discovered the remains of a currently-unidentified individual who had been reported missing in December, 2018.
With the body parts on their way to the Santa Barbara Coroner’s Bureau for purposed of identification, detectives now had probable cause to obtain and serve a search warrant on the residence of Machleit and Anderson.
Pursuant to that search, both suspects were taken into custody and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail.
According to SBSD Public Information Officer Raquel Zick, Machleit was booked “for murder with special circumstances and conspiracy,” while Anderson was booked for “accessory to murder.” Zick further indicated that “the victim was apparently murdered in the city of Santa Maria and dismembered before being disposed of at the golf course.”
Machleit is currently in custody with bail set at $2,000,000, while Anderson remains in custody on bail set at $1,000,000.
