A cyber tip led police to arrest an Apple Valley substitute teacher for possession of child pornography.
The suspect, 26-year-old Steven Abreo, had been previously employed by the Victor Elementary School District and the Hesperia Unified School District as a substitute teacher. “At this time, Investigators have not found any evidence that Abreo had inappropriate photographs of students, or had inappropriate contact with students he was in the presence of,” according to the release.
The tip, provided by an internet service provider, contained several pornographic images of children. Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Crimes Against Children Detail (CAC) found that the account containing the images belonged to Abreo. They arrested him at his residence in the 14000 block of Hopi Road on September 16, 2020.
Abreo was brought in for an interview after his arrest. Following the interview, he was charged with possession of child pornography and booked into the Central Detention Center on $25,000 bail. He was released after posting bail.
