“We are pleased to announce an arrest has been made in the September 16th homicide of 17-year-old Eric Aguiar of Sonora.
20-year-old Joshua Rodriguez of Tuolumne was arrested in Centerville, Utah during the execution of an arrest warrant.
Over the last several days, TCSO detective’s were able to determine Rodriguez to be the shooting suspect in Eric’s death. Detectives discovered Rodriguez had fled to Utah where he was believed to be hiding.
In collaboration with Centerville Police Department, an arrest warrant was authored and ultimately executed by Bountiful Metro SWAT last night.
Rodriguez is being held in Utah awaiting extradition back to Tuolumne County.
We want to thank the Centerville Police Department and Bountiful Metro SWAT for their amazing efforts and team work. We would also like to thank our community for their continued patience, support, and trust in the Sheriff’s Office.”
