“On Saturday, September 26th, 2020, Redding Police officers initiated a narcotics investigation focused on a pair of hotel rooms in the 500 block of N. Market Street. The investigation started when officers observed a large amount of drug related activity in the area. Officers identified 31 year old Michael Shankles, 29 year old David Shankles and 28 year old Breanna Nutter as primarily responsible for one room. Michael Shankles is on Parole for burglary and David Shankles is on Post Release Community Supervision for grand theft.
Officers searched their hotel room and located nearly an ounce of heroin, a quarter ounce of methamphetamine and a large amount of drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed the occupants of this room were selling heroin and methamphetamine as well as allowing numerous subjects to visit for the sole purpose of purchasing and using drugs.
The second associated hotel room contained 25 year old Camren Taylor and 28 year old Lisa Deaton. Taylor is on felony Probation for carjacking and possession of illegal weapons. Officers searched this room and located almost three pounds of marijuana, a significant amount of used syringes and other drug paraphernalia along with over $4,500 dollars of suspected drug money.
The occupants of these rooms were working together and served as a one stop shop for illegal drugs. Officers arrested the group for maintaining a place where drugs are used and sold and possession of heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana for sale. The Redding Police Department remains committed to improving the quality of life by aggressively enforcing illegal behavior in the downtown area. Attached are photographs of those involved.”
