Driver Arrested for Hit and Run Accident Killing an 88-Year-old Woman

SAN PABLO— A man was arrested following a hit and run accident that killed an 88-year-old woman. The accident occurred near San Pablo Bell Park during the predawn hours of October 5.
The victim was struck near the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and 23 rd Street. She was struck at 5:16 a.m. by a 1991 Ford pickup truck.
Responding officers located the victim lying in the roadway, suffering from multiple injuries. Officers initiated life-saving measures. Unfortunately, she died at the scene.
The driver fled, but the accident was recorded by public safety cameras. The suspect and the truck involved in the accident were located four miles away in Pinole.
The suspect is a Pinole resident, 64-year-old Kelly Lynch. He was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. at his residence on Belfair Drive in Pinole.
Lynch who had an outstanding arrest warrant was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. For the accident, Lynch was booked for hit and run causing death, and possession of a controlled substance.
Lynch also faces charges for failure to appear in court on a written promise, pertaining to a drug arrest on June 23. He is also charged with probation violation in connection with a prior conviction.
Lynch has numerous prior arrests, including six drug-related arrests. These include arrests for possession of illicit drugs and possession of controlled substances for sale.
