In the early morning of Monday, September 21, 2020, three men approached an adult male in the parking lot of the Motel 6 on Sierra Street in Kingsburg. 22-year old Shawn Vigo, 20-year old Jacob Garza, and 29-year old Andrew Luna demanded money from the man, along with some of his personal belongings. At least one suspect was armed with a handgun.
The three men became physical with the male but he managed to make a run for it and eventually evade the chasing men. Though the victim had escaped the violence of the men, his vehicle did not. The suspects vandalized his car, leaving it with significant damage. Witnesses called Kingsburg Police.
With the help of video surveillance, officers identified the suspects. Over the course of October 7th and October 8th , Kingsburg Police detectives and Fresno County Adult Compliance Team conducted probation searches and served search warrants in Kingsburg and Selma. They found evidence, including firearms, linked to the crime. At this point, Vigo, Garza, and Luna were arrested.
The suspects were booked into the Fresno County Jail for attempted armed robbery, illegal firearm possession, using a firearm in the commission of a crime, possession of ammunition by a gang member, possession of narcotics, felony vandalism, and criminal threats. All three have bonded out since being booked.
