Suspect Allegedly Drives Straight at a Police Officer and Sheriff’s Deputy

DANVILLE — A man allegedly drove straight at a Danville police officer and a Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office deputy. The suspect is 25-year-old Eduardo Carrillo who lives in Stockton.

The lawmen were injured October 18 outside the Blackhawk police substation, located at 1092 Eagle Nest Place. The deputy was transported to a hospital for medical treatment and the police officer was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Carrillo was first seen at 2 p.m. when he entered the substation, according to a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office.

He was purportedly acting erratically and asked to leave Blackhawk, an unincorporated community near Danville. He exited from the police building, but there was more trouble outside.

Once outside the substation, Carrillo allegedly accelerated his car and deliberately hit an officer and deputy. A Danville police sergeant fired at the suspect’s 2015 Nissan Sentra, which sped away from the scene.

Additional deputies responded and located Carrillo about one mile away. He was apprehended after a struggle with deputies. He was placed under arrest at 2:42 p.m.

Carrillo was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, where he remains in custody in lieu of $1.5 million bond.

In addition to charges for attempted murder, Carrillo is also charged with probation violation.

The investigation of this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact the Sheriff’s Office investigation division at 925-313-2600, or tips@so.cccounty.us.
