Suspect Arrested in Connection with a Fatal Freeway Shooting

SAN PABLO — A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal freeway shooting case. The victim was riding as a passenger inside a vehicle when he was struck by gunfire last month.

The shooting which killed Kevin Santisteban, 21 of Richmond, occurred on September 5 on Interstate 80. It was shortly after midnight when it happened.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two suspects from Fairfield, 21-year-old Jorge Vazquez and 23-year-old Camille McAlister (https://www.crimevoice.com/2020/09/11/fatal-freeway-shooting/) were arrested on September 6.

San Pablo police said in a prepared statement. “Investigators continued with the investigation as a third suspect was believed to be present. He conspired with Vazquez and McAlister to conduct the shooting.”

The third suspect is identified as a Richmond resident, 18-year-old Tyejuan J. Shepherd. Investigators from San Pablo arrested Shepherd in El Cerrito on October 15.

Shepherd remains behind bars at the Martinez Detention Facility. He is presently ineligible for release from jail on bond.

Shephard is believed to be the person responsible for firing the shots that killed the victim. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office subsequently filed charges against him for murder.

However, the freeway homicide investigation remains open. Anyone with information about this case can call the investigations unit at the San Pablo Police Department at 510-215-3150.
