Man Arrested at Benton Paiute Reservation – Multiple Victims’ Head Injuries, Deadly-Weapon Assault

BENTON – As Mono County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to possible “Shots Fired” and reports
of a physical altercation at Benton Paiute Reservation, additional info came in.
En-Route Deputies received word at approximately 10:16 P.M. on 10/13/2020 of awaiting multiple victims with head injuries.
Deputies arrived onscene and contacted the victims. Investigators gathered witnesses’ statements, plus
collected physical evidence.
One outstanding suspect was arrested – Gabriel Lopez Marquez. Charges included: Assault with a
deadly weapon, Child Endangerment, Threaten Crime with intent to Terrorize, and Battery with Serious
Bodily Harm.
Deputies transported Marquez away from the scene, and booked him into the Mono County Jail. Mono
County Sheriff’s Office issued the following kudos: “We would like to thank our allied law enforcement
agencies and first responders for their assistance – California Highway Patrol- Bishop (CHP), Mammoth
Lakes Police Department (MLPD), White Mountain Fire Department (WMFD), Mono County EMS, and
Symon’s Ambulance, out of Bishop.”
