Redding PD: One cited, one booked after probation search turns up gun, drugs

“On Saturday, October 25th, 2020, at 9:27 P.M., Redding Police Officer Yabra was patrolling the parking lot of the Motel 6, located at 1250 Twin View Blvd., when he observed a male he recognized as 26 year old Tyler Stone of Redding enter a motel room. Officer Yabra recognized Stone from prior contacts and knows he is on searchable Shasta County Probation.
With assistance from other Officers, a probation search was conducted at Stone’s motel room. Officers contacted Stone and Asher Mullens, 27 years of Redding, inside of the motel room. Mullens told Officers he had a firearm concealed in his waistband and Officers retrieved a loaded 9mm handgun. During the probation search of the motel room and Stone’s vehicle in the parking lot, Officers also found the disassembled upper slide of a 9mm handgun, two magazines, ammunition, heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and evidence of drug sales.
Stone was issued a citation for possession marijuana for sales and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mullens was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail for being a drug addict in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of an unregistered handgun, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
