This morning around 10am, a Santa Rosa Police Officer was patrolling near the 2100 block of Petaluma Hill Rd. The officer saw a young woman walking near the parking lot of the Redemption Church at that location.
The officer observed the vehicle pictured below pull up to the girl and then speed off quickly. The girl was visibly upset and started to run away. The SRPD Officer immediately contacted the girl, who turned out to be only 16 years-old. She told the officer that the man driving the truck had solicited her for a “sexual act”.
The officer was quickly able to locate the vehicle hiding on a dead-end street. The officer made contact with the 27-year-old driver and he made admissions about the lewd statements toward the 16-year-old victim. She was also able to identify him as the suspect as the man who pulled up to her.
The suspect was booked at the Sonoma County Jail for violation 647.6(A)(1) PC, Annoying or Molesting a child under the age of 18.
Santa Rosa Police Officers not only respond to calls, but are constantly patrolling looking their assigned neighborhoods. This astute officer new something wasn’t right and responded immediately. Great Work!
