SAN DIEGO – Immediate action was spurred by a woman calling for help, when she encountered her
hallucinating son clutching several guns.
San Diego Police Department sent the force to be with them.
The comprehensive response on 12/06/2020 at 8 AM included coverage by land and air. “Our
Psychiatric Emergency Response Team responded to this incident along with our helicopter, 2 police
dogs, 2 sergeants, 20 officers and a field Lieutenant to make sure everyone is safe,” said San Diego PD.
Two-and-a-half hours of communicating successfully brought the son to safety. Once inside, the special
force encountered the son’s cache of firearms: four shotguns, five rifles, and two revolvers.
As a result, a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) was requested “for his safety and the safety of
others,” said San Diego PD. “This temporarily stops someone from possessing guns if they are a danger
to themselves or others.”
In conclusion, it’s important to note that once the person is no longer a threat, the guns may be returned.
