LANCASTER – Four children’s tragic treatment, leading to the death of two of them, is the latest case announced by the Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office. Their father, Maurice Jewel Taylor Sr. (dob 8/26/86) faces the equivalent of a lifetime in prison.
The severe abuse had escalated to a horrific level. Taylor “has been charged with decapitating his teenage son and daughter and abusing his other two boys last week,” announced the DA’s Office Richard Santiago on 12/09/2020.
The prosecutors assigned to case MA080335 are Deputy District Attorneys Alexander Lara and Kirsten Brown.
“Taylor is charged with fatally stabbing Maliaka T. (13) and Maurice T. (12) on November 29. The defendant’s other two boys, ages 8 and 9, were allegedly shown their murdered siblings and were forced to stay in their bedrooms for several days without food,” said the prosecutors.
As a result, their father faces two felony counts each of “murder and child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death,” said Santiago. Looming large is a conviction with a possible maximum state prison sentence of 57+ years to life.
This week’s arraignment was continued to 12/21/2020 at L.A Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch, in Department A01.
Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lancaster Station, are conducting the ongoing investigation of this case.
