ANTIOCH — A man behind bars in county jail faces multiple charges involving possession of child pornography. Shawn J. Prichard, 41 of Antioch, was taken into custody last week.
Prichard became the subject of an investigation led by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The inquiry led investigators to obtain a warrant to search his Mammoth Way residence on December 9.
During this law enforcement action, authorities located digital evidence of child pornography inside Prichard’s home. An extensive review of the evidence subsequently uncovered more than 100 images depicting child pornography.
While the search was under way, investigators reviewed several items of digital evidence, which resulted in Prichard’s arrest. He was transported and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
The suspect has remained behind bars since his court appearance on December 11. A judge set bond for his release from custody at $1 million.
Prichard is charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography. He is also charged with one count of aggravated possession of child pornography, due the large quantity seized.
The task force responsible for the investigation includes law enforcement agencies throughout Contra Costa County. The regional task force collaborates with agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Secret Service.
The case involving Prichard remains open. Anyone with information can contact Senior Inspector Darryl Holcombe at 925-957-8757 or dholcombe@contracostada.org.
