“Officers with the Violence Suppression Task Force (VSTF) continue to take guns out of the hands of gang members.
Last night Officers with VSTF along with Officers from the California Department of Corrections (CDCR), made a traffic stop on a vehicle for CVC violations at N.Main St and Iris St.
Inside the vehicle was the driver, Roy Govea Jr (35), and passenger, Daniel Ramirez (18). Govea was found to be on probation and both were norteno gang members.
During a search of the vehicle Officers located a .32 caliber revolver with a scratched off serial number, in a backpack, at the feet of the passenger.
Officers then went to the city of Gonzales to complete a probation check at the residence where the two lived.
At the residence Officers located a ghost short-barreled assault rifle and a ghost Glock handgun. All three firearms were determined to be Ramirez’s. Ramirez was lodged at Monterey County Jail on numerous weapons charges.”
