Illegal-Grow Search Warrants Reveal Tons of Pot, Guns, and Toxic Chemicals
ANZA – A multi-agency 6:00 am search-warrant visit to the unincorporated county area of Anza on December 17th unearthed tons of illegally-grown and unregulated evidence. Five marijuana cultivation- related search warrants were served by personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
“During the service, approximately 2592 plants were eradicated and 400 pounds of processed marijuana was collected, for a total combined weight of approximately three tons,” said Sergeant James Burton of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Hemet Station. “Four firearms, (two rifles – including an AR-15 – and two handguns), were collected for evidence.”
The multiple search warrants included service for dangerous, toxic pesticides – “known hazards to the water table, and are known to endanger domestic animals and wildlife,” added Sgt. Burton. Several containers were seized.

Marijuana cultivation negatively impacts the environment in many ways including diminishing and poisoning the water table and pesticides adversely affecting the health of neighboring residents. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has a zero-tolerance policy for these offenses.
