SAN DIEGO – MTS, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, experienced a vandal-in-progress at one of their vehicles on 12/17/2020. San Diego Police Department Officers were swiftly dispatched upon receipt of a call regarding a man spray-painting a MTS Security vehicle.
Arriving officers encountered a witness who directed them to the location of the alleged suspect. Contact was made with the vandal.
“When we tried putting him in handcuffs, the suspect pulled away and ran,” said San Diego PD. “He didn’t get far.”
Officers reported that they quickly caught him. The anonymous suspect had a gun in his backpack. As a result, the armed suspect was arrested.
MTS statement: MTS employs a small number of its own officers and also contracts with a private security company, Universal Protection Services. The officers have a limited set of powers depending upon whether they’re MTS employees or Universal Protection Services contractors.
