“On December 22, 2020, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office released a photograph of a person of interest in several recent suspicious fires. Consequently, several tips were received from the public regarding the identification of the person in the photograph.
On December 23, 2020, Sheriff’s Detectives contacted Carl Morrison (age 33 of Mountain Ranch) while following up on tips received from the public.
During the contact with Morrison, new information and evidence was discovered and Morrison was arrested. He was later booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of Penal Code 451(b) Arson of an Inhabited Structure (Felony), Penal Code 451(c) Arson of Forest Land (Felony), Penal Code 460(a) Burglary (Felony), Vehicle Code 664/10851(a) Vehicle Theft (Felony), and Penal Code 484(a) Theft (Misdemeanor).
Morrison is currently being held in the Calaveras County Jail with a bail of $250,000.”
