During the past two months, MADCAT has conducted operations all over Monterey and San Benito counties. During these operations, MADCAT investigators identified and shut down two chop shops. Additionally, 24 people were arrested on various auto theft, weapons and drug related charges.
Over 100 stolen vehicles were recovered in those two months with an estimated value over $700,000.
The Auto Theft Task Force is comprised of the Sheriff’s Office, CHP and Salinas Police. The mission of MADCAT is to reduce vehicle theft in Monterey County through proactive enforcement, the apprehension of subjects involved in vehicle theft, education, and public awareness.
