It was an area known for auto related crimes, and officers were checking it before 1:00 am on January 8th. A report came in that a stolen car was being driven by someone who was a guest at a nearby motel.
Earlier in the evening, in the 100 block of N. Bayshore Boulevard, officers spotted a Honda CRV, unoccupied and parked, at the America’s Best Value Inn.
The ignition of the Honda had been “punched,” damage that is a sign of vehicle theft.
A check on the Honda revealed that it had been reported stolen out of Palo Alto. Surveillance video showed the driver of the stolen vehicle pulling a long gun out and going into a motel room.
The suspect in the room, 34-year-old James Blain Carrasco, a felon out on felony bail, had eight active warrants out for his arrest.’
When Carrasco walked out of the motel room, he was arrested, carrying drug paraphernalia and a shaved key.
In his motel room Carrasaco had a sawed-off Remington 870 12-guage shotgun.
He was charged with “commit felony while on bail (12022.2 PC), possess firearm with active restraining order (29825(b) PC), possess short-barreled rifle (33210 PC), convicted felon possess firearm (29800(a)1 PC), possess burglary tools (466 PC), disobey court order (166(a)4 PC), grand theft auto (496(d) PC), possess drug paraphernalia (11364 HS).”
