OAKLAND — A 36-year-old man with a prior conviction for possession of a deadly weapon is behind bars again. Darrell D. Parrish Jr., a resident of Oakland, faces three felony charges for allegedly shooting a woman with a flare gun.
A 52-year-old woman was shot in her head on January 5. This shooting occurred in broad daylight in Oakland’s Chinatown neighborhood. The victim required medical treatment at a hospital.
This shooting was reported at 12:37 p.m. It occurred on the 800 block of Franklin Street in front of witnesses. Video surveillance cameras in the area recorded the shooting.
Police located Parrish about one hour later. Oakland officers took him into custody on the 3200 block of Market Street at 1:22 p.m. The suspect was wearing a bullet proof vest at the time of his arrest.
Parrish was booked for battery with serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody in lieu of $85,000 bond, pending a court hearing on February 8.

In October 2009, Parrish was convicted for possession of a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and probation for 5 years.
In 2010, Parrish was arrested for receiving stolen property and forgery, but he was not convicted.
