Team 1 nabs pair for marijuana and loaded handgun

“On January 5th, a deputy from Team 1 conducted a traffic stop on a car for a vehicle violation near the intersection of Ream St./Wallace Ave., Vallejo.

While talking with the vehicle’s occupants, 22-year-old Roman Penn (Stockton) and 23-year-old Jennifer Figueroa (Suisun City), the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the sedan. In addition to the smell, deputies noticed there was loose marijuana in the vehicle’s center console.

Based on probable cause, deputies searched the car and located a loaded handgun in the passenger compartment. Subsequently, Penn and Figueroa were arrested for possession of a firearm in a vehicle – Penn was also arrested for possessing a firearm as a prohibited person.

Since the start of 2021, Team 1 has removed 46 (unlawfully possessed) guns off the streets.
