Security Gate-Crashing Truck Driver’s Visit to a Residence – Shots-Fired Result
SANTA CLARITA – A call regarding a traffic accident soonafter became “shots fired.” Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station Deputies immediately responded to the 01/11/2021 call near 2:20 PM on the 15900 block of Warm Springs Drive.
There, they learned of a red Toyota Tacoma Truck colliding with a security gate. The driver then used his vehicle to force entry into the gated residential community.
Next, the pickup truck continued on, stopping in front of a home on Warm Springs Drive. “Shortly after, two individuals approached the vehicle to contact the suspect, who was still seated in the driver’s seat of the pickup truck” said Deputy Joana Warren.
“During the contact, the suspect produced a handgun. One of the individuals, a retired Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy, also produced a handgun, and a shooting occurred. The suspect was struck twice in the upper torso.”
As a result, Santa Clarita deputies arrived and took the male Hispanic adult into custody. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The suspect was listed in critical condition. A handgun, recovered at the scene, is believed to belong to the suspect.
