On 1/5/2021, at 1036 hours officers were dispatched to a shooting at the Rohlffs Manor Senior Apartments located at 2400 Fair Drive.
A caller contacted 911 to report at least one gun shot was heard from inside one of the apartments. Officers arrived on scene, located the apartment and created a safety perimeter around the residence.
Officers searched and did not locate any shooting victims. Up to 20 nearby residents were evacuated or advised to shelter in place while officers attempted to negotiate with the occupant to walk out of the apartment and surrender.
Crisis Negotiators attempted multiple phone calls, and loudspeaker announcements in an attempt to establish communications and compliance.
At 1220 hours, after being unable to establish communication, members of the Napa Police Department and Napa County Sheriff’s Department SWAT teams were able to safely access a back door and use a sUAV (drone) to search the interior of the apartment where a male adult was located and determined deceased by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
We would like to thank the managers, staff and residents at Rohlffs Manor Senior Apartments for their assistance, and patience during this difficult and unfortunate incident.
