“While you were sleeping, early Wednesday morning, a Folsom Police Officer made a routine traffic stop of a vehicle on Folsom Blvd.
When the officer made contact with the driver, they discovered that the driver and their passenger were on probation and decided to conduct a search of the vehicle.
As a result of that vehicle search, the officers on scene located four catalytic converters as well as the tools to quickly remove catalytic converters from vehicles.
Dao Xiong of Sacramento and Shaneel Lal of Mather were arrested and booked at Sacramento County Jail.
Folsom Police Department reminds residents that catalytic converter thefts continue to occur in our community. You can prevent becoming a victim by:
• Parking your vehicle inside a garage or near a light or security camera.
• Etch your license plate number on your catalytic converter to help prevent your catalytic converter from being sold.
• Purchase a catalytic converter theft prevention kit that will create a cage around your catalytic converter to prevent it from being stolen.
• Reporting any suspicious vehicles, persons or activities to the Folsom Police Department at 916-355-7231″
