“Yesterday, at about 12:15 pm, responded to the Chevron station in Dunnigan following a report of shots fired.
It was reported that a subject, later identified as 57 year-old Darren Ogas of Lancaster, California, had negligently discharged 2 rounds from a pistol after an incident in the parking lot with another person.
After the shooting, Ogas left the location in a tractor trailer headed southbound on Interstate 5.
Deputies arrived in the area and began canvassing businesses while searching for the tractor trailer. The vehicle was located parked in the rear of a truck stop on County Road 8 in Dunnigan where Ogas was contacted and detained.
Two loaded firearms, a .380 handgun and a 270 rifle, were collected from Ogas’ vehicle.
It was determined that Ogas had threatened a male subject after an altercation between the two by pointing the firearm in the subject’s face and firing a round into the air. Ogas also reportedly shot at the male’s dog.
Ogas was placed under arrest for negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded pistol not registered to him and brandishing a firearm.”
