An investigation began on January 27 on a small group leader at New Vintage Church and his assault on a juvenile victim.
The investigation established probably cause that the suspect “sexually abused a juvenile victim for four to five years.”
The leadership of the church also cooperated with the SRPD and also attempted to ascertain if there were other victims.
The lead pastor, Darren Youngstrom, said, “As soon as we found out [about the allegations], we proactively began calling families to make sure children were safe.”
The suspect, 55-year-old Drue Mordecai, was a volunteer with the high school students.
Mordecai was arrested on January 28 for 12 felony charges. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $3,000,000.
