“This morning one of our Commanders was driving an unmarked vehicle in the area of Highway 68 and Reservation Road and saw a Ford Focus driving very recklessly.
The Ford was passing other vehicles on the road shoulders. The Commander attempted to stop the vehicle with her lights and sirens but the suspect refused to stop and continued driving reckless.
We soon learned the vehicle was recently stolen by force in Sacramento County. Another Deputy in a marked Sheriff’s patrol vehicle took over the pursuit as it continued south-bound on Highway 101.
The Ford reached speeds of 130 MPH and continued to pass other vehicles recklessly. The Ford took the Camphora-Gloria Road exit just north of Soledad at a high rate of speed and was unable to make the turn at the exit ramp.
The Ford struck multiple poles, an air compressor storage tank, and then a large sign pole before coming to a stop. The Deputy pursuing was unable to stop in time and struck a tree and came to a stop in front of the suspect vehicle.
The Deputy fortunately was ok, and acting quickly, held the three suspects at gun point until additional deputies arrived. Three suspects were taken into custody with no further incident.
