“On March 5th, our deputies responded to a call from a concerned father in Colfax, who reported his 14-year old son had consumed edible marijuana gummies and fallen ill.
The juvenile victim was transported to the hospital for his symptoms. Deputies began investigating how the juvenile obtained the edible marijuana and learned he purchased the substance through Snapchat.
On March 6th, the investigation led deputies to the suspect’s vehicle on Auburn Street, where they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect sped off, leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit. The suspect reached speeds of more than 100 mph while weaving into and out of traffic and crossing over double yellow lines.
The suspect managed to temporarily evade deputies until PCSO dispatchers helped track down the suspect’s phone number. One of our deputies made contact with the suspect and convinced him to turn himself in.
He was positively identified as 19-year old Christian Brock-Hurtado, of Penn Valley. Brock-Hurtado was arrested for child endangerment, furnishing marijuana to a minor, and evading a peace officer.”
