“CORONA, CA– On November 27, 2020, at 10:07 p.m., the Corona Police Department and Corona Fire Department responded to the 200 block of N. Lincoln Avenue in the City of Corona, regarding a traffic collision. The arriving officers found Oliver Iturbeasiain, a 25-year-old from Corona, had collided with another vehicle occupied by a 28-year-old male and an 88-year-old female, causing injuries to both parties.
The initial investigation revealed Oliver was driving northbound on Lincoln Avenue, when he crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with the victims’ vehicle. On scene officers noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Oliver and a blood sample was obtained and later tested.
Oliver’s blood alcohol content was found to be over three times the legal limit. At the time of this incident, Oliver was on probation for a previous driving under the influence conviction.
On February 18, 2021, the Corona Police Department received notification from the Orange County Coroner’s Office that the 88-year-old passenger from the victim vehicle had succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the traffic collision.
After further investigation, interviews, and discussions with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, the Corona Police Department’s accident investigators arrested Oliver on March 1, 2021, for second-degree murder, probation violation, and several additional driving under the influence related charges. Oliver was later remanded to the custody of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department with bail set at one million dollars.”
