Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Team Recap March 9, 2021
On February 26 and March 2, three search warrants were served by the Marijuana Enforcement Unit of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, all related to illegal marijuana cultivation.
First, on February 26, authorities entered a residence in the 2000 block of Moro Road in San Andreas. Inside there was an illegal grow site.. Deputies seized 741 marijuana plants and 52 pounds of processed marijuana. The total value of this bust was $549,250. Two suspects were arrested – 44-year-old Man Yee Chan and 48-year-old Wei Ren Huang.
Second, on March 2, a residence in the 5000 block of McCauley Road in Valley Springs was the scene of an executed search warrant. There, a detached metal shop had been converted into a grow site. 2,511 plants and 222 pounds of processed marijuana were seized, worth $1,632,150.
30-year-old Yen Hsiang Yang was arrested for marijuana cultivation and marijuana for sale.
Third, also on March 2, a residence in the 5000 block of Southworth Road in Burson was the scene of a drug bust. There deputies seized 2,298 marijuana plants valued at $1,493,700.
33-year-old Jose Feliciano Escarcega-Barajas and 22-year-old Rene Redondo-Ortiz were arrested and charged with marijuana cultivation, marijuana sales and conspiracy.
