CLAREMONT – On the last night of March, near 11 PM, Claremont Police Department (CPD) Dispatch received a report of an unknown vehicle at an apartment complex with an occupant fast asleep inside.
Arriving officers observed a man sleeping in the driver’s seat with “narcotic paraphernalia on his lap,”
said City Councilmember and Former Police Commissioner Ed Reece.
CPD ID’d the man as a suspect who’d been involved in illicit activity at a nearby home – a residence
close to The Claremont Club. Burglarized between 6-7:30 AM that morning, a burglar had “entered by
smashing a side living room window. The suspect ransacked the house and stole computer equipment,
a wallet, and women’s underwear,” said Reece.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, an officer reaching in to retrieve the drug paraphernalia spotted
the stolen property. CPD contacted the victim who ID’d their property, and received it all, intact.
Claremont PD has reported that the 25-year-old currently anonymous suspect, a resident of Ontario, was
arrested for residential burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Commissioner Reece gave Kudos – “This is a perfect example of the community and Police Department
working together to keep our community safe!!”
