Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announces arrest in recent homicide investigation

“The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in this case for the shooting death of 18-year-old, Julian Jason Villa. Ajan Ray Vaughn, 21 (see attached photo), was arrested on March 24, 2021 and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide charges. No additional information is available at this time.

At 2:32 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call from a citizen near the intersection of Watt Avenue and A Street in North Sacramento stating that someone inside a vehicle had been shot.
Deputies arrived at the intersection and found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds and began administering medical aid. Metro Fire arrived, continued CPR then transported him to a nearby hospital where medical staff later pronounced the adult male deceased.
CSI arrived and collected evidence. Homicide detectives interviewed witnesses and are still investigating. No suspect information is available. No other information is available at this time.
The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
