“Just before 6 a.m. on April 1, a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call of a suspicious black sedan reportedly stopping at mailboxes along Val Verde Road, in Loomis.
As the deputy arrived to the location, he found the vehicle on Val Verde Road at Suzuki Lane stopped next to a cluster of mailboxes. The deputy contacted the driver, 27-year old Victor Flores, and the passenger, 38-year old Sarah Simmons, both of Sacramento.
Flores had two outstanding Sacramento County warrants. The deputy searched Simmons’ car and found stolen mail addressed to Loomis residents and four credit cards belonging to individuals who live in Sacramento County.
A search of Flores’ wallet revealed a stolen check made out to the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Both suspects were found to have pictures on their phones of personal information and credit cards belonging to other individuals.
Additionally, Flores’ phone had images of checks with names scratched off and checks that appeared fake with amounts of more than $21,500.
Flores and Simmons were arrested for mail theft, credit card theft, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy. Flores was also arrested for his two warrants. After the arrests were made, a Placer County Sheriff’s Sgt. personally returned the stolen mail to the Loomis residents!”
